Florida Sunshine

Well, it's been a fast vacation and I am in FL for a couple more days. I crushed my pinky toe and wasn't able to go surfing the only day it was decent. I guess I'll have to wait until I return possibly in July. Here's a beach pic of my dad, niece, and dog, Ace in action. Check out the surfers in the background.

My niece and I laughing in the newly finished pool:

My toe is still really sore, but I was able to sidewalk surf and was pulling off some hard turns:

Sorry, no bikinis this time. It is winter time in Palm Bay, so the temp has only gone up to 80F. It's been great for a native Californian, but cold for a Floridian. Next post will be from Cali... until then...

What a week! Thank goodness it's over! I leave for FL tonight and can't wait to just hang. Hopefully there will be some surf there as well as some bikini clad girlies. If not, then oh's nice to just get away anyway.

The above pic was taken yesterday after work on my drive home. Keep in mind that it was like 76 degrees last week. And, as much I pretend I don't know what snow is, we do sometimes get some. Yesterday it was falling as low as 2000ft. So that's how cold it got! So, needless to say, I haven't been surfing in almost 2 weeks...too busy or too cold it's been.

I'll take some pics while I'm in FL and blog from there. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Social Graces

A lot has been going on. I just haven't been able to do much blogging and I feel like I am falling off the blog radar. I'm not sure whether it's school or work or the combination of both that is taking up my time. Probably both.

I attended a funeral today. I took time out to support my coworker/friend who's son had passed away. He was only 20, so it was a pretty sad event. Some of my other coworkers were there and I spent some time with them after at the luncheon. When I got home, I was pretty worn out from the emotional and social exercise. I was planning on surfing, but looking at the cam, it looked sooooo crowded. I didn't want to be in any more crowds today, so I went to my "secret" rollerblading spot and did what I call an "evening pave-off". The name is derived from a surfing term called an "Evening Glass-off" which means to surf before sunset when the wind dies down and the water gets smooth and glassy. Always beautiful.

It wasn't a big deal, I went surfing yesterday and had a lot of fun. Everyone was out and I was so excited to see people I haven't seen in awhile. I was pretty worn out after that.

I have one more week of work, and then I will be on a week's vacation in Florida. I hope I can catch up on all your blogs throughout the week and on vacation. Sorry I have been such a hermit. I will try and get out more :)

Too Beautiful!

I knew today was going to be just gorgeous! I totally ditched work and went the beach. For some reason my original plan of studying for an exam had been put on the back burner after the temp reached about 70 degrees. I surfed for a little bit and then just beach combed for a bit. What a great reprieve from a hectic week. I still have that exam to study for...phooey! Below is Santa Cruz a couple of hours ago. Oh...they were holding the Maverick's Big Wave Surf contest 40 minutes up the coast. Shawn Rhodes is one the 24 picked...he gave Alison and I a surf lesson back in the day. Anyway... they couldn't have picked a more lovely day!

Finally, A Moment!

I'm sorry everyone, this week has been going nonstop. School is sure keeping me on my toes, but I love it. The concepts we have been discussing my art history class have been so intriguing. With the imagery and myths of ancient Asian cultures, it's so hard not to get caught up. When I come home at night I have dreams of dragons and fantastic creatures. The more disturbing of the dreams is when I have Han Dynasty aristocrats doing math equations. Work has been very busy as well, making it difficult to create any new posts. Girlwise, everything is great... I'm still having a lot of fun and may have some tomorrow. It's supposed to be really nice at the beach on Sunday, so my plans are geared towards surf, sun, and girls ;)

I think I've finally found my niche at Cowells with the new sandbar. It's a steep left take off, perfect for the board I just bought. I tried taking my old board out and trying to make a hard turn, but got my ass kicked. I got tumbled around and I am sore today. I really needed that though because I have become super wimpy lately.

Anyway, I will try to take some beach pics for tomorrow and post them. Also, I will try to get in some more post during the week. Thanks for hanging in there my wonderful fan club ;)
